3 Highlights from this Week's FOC
WHAT SHOULD YOU NOT MISS THIS WEEK?
Hello fellow Manga readers,
after starting with a strong FOC two weeks ago, I noticed something rather quickly… Although all titles were great and I am happy for all the new volumes, we haven’t had a new story joining us yet… This will change now! :P
But of course, there are also some other great stories that receive a new volume with this FOC, which I just cannot leave out! :D
So without further ado, let’s check out this new story and the continuing stories – shall we?! 👀
🐈⬛ Ichi The Witch 🐈⬛
And of course, I won’t keep you waiting for long and will immediately start with our new manga series joining our wishlists this year: Ichi the Witch! 🐈⬛
This one is actually a title that I haven’t read yet, but I have been waiting for it a while now.
So when I saw our FOC list for this week, I just knew that this would be a MUST to talk about! :P
But what is this new manga about?
In this fantasy manga we get dragged into a world full of magic. People can absorb magic by hunting down magical beings and absorb their power. However, the one big twist is that only women can absorb this energy and become witches. All that changes after Ichi, a boy that likes to hunt, is dragged into a big magical fight. He defeats one of the magical beings and gains its magical power in the process! Something that shouldn’t be possible and that throws the world into turmoil…
I am not entirely sure when I found out about this manga, but I do know why it took my heart by storm.
Not only is the story quite fun and I am curious to see how it develops, but the art is just drop-dead gorgeous. LOOK:
It mixes all the good things that a new series, which you will follow for years to come, should have. Clean panels with incredible elements (I mean look at these boots that Ichi is rocking – perfection!), but also some funny faces that give you some good laughs! 😂
Additionally, I am really happy that this wonderful art style is getting some more recognition. Because, if you haven’t heard, the artist, Shiro Usazaki, actually went viral a few years ago for her artwork in a different manga series.
After the author of that manga was sent to jail, the manga was dropped and Shiro’s art couldn’t be appreciated for a while. But now she is back and gosh she hasn’t lost her talent! 😍
So, do not miss out this manga, which deserves all the hype for many reasons, and order it on FOC, right now :P
🥶 Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Vol 14 🥶
Speaking of one fantasy, let us talk about a classic, which will receive a new volume soon and that you can pre-order on FOC, right now: Frieren! 🥶
Frieren is already at volume 14 but always great to mention, because you can always jump onto this series at any time.
Not only is it a great read, but it is a very good read! Which means, you will catch up quickly anyway! :P
But what is it about for anyone that wants to get into this series?
The elven mage Frieren and her fellow adventurers have defeated the Demon King. The world is at peace and now the time for a quiet life can finally begin…
However, Frieren cannot really settle down or be happy about it once she realizes that, because she is an elf and nearly immortal, she will outlive every single one of her friends, in what for her feels like only a few years. How can someone be happy with anything, if the people you love die around you in just a blink of your own lifetime. Frieren sets out on a journey to find answers about these deeply philosophical questions…
And although some of you may not have read Frieren yet, I bet you have heard of it. Ever since the anime, this story is talked about everywhere – for good reasons!
Wonderful characters, beautiful worldbuilding and a story that not only delivers great action, but also deep philosophical themes that make you learn a lot about yourself and the world around you.
So, if you are a fan of fantasy and deep stories – this one is for you!

👻 Dandadan Vol 17 👽
Ok… enough fantasy for one day… let us try something more sci-fi and occult, shall we? :P
One of my favorite on-going manga at the moment is also one that brings me the biggest laughs: Dandadan! 👻 👽
A story about a boy that is obsessed with aliens and a girl that grew up surrounded by the occult are crossing paths because of their disbelief for the other concept. But now they will never be the same after both realize that the other concept truly exists! 😱
Now the whole occult sphere and the whole alien world are hunting these two for something very special… What that is? You should find out yourself! But trust me, you will never guess and it is the most hilarious and random concept ever! 😂
Dandadan is just your perfect story for great action and good laughs after a long day of work and deep stories. So in a way, this newsletter is kind of the perfect reading order with these FOC titles :P
However, this doesn’t mean that Dandadan won’t make you fall out of your chair sometimes. The concepts are just so hilarious and random, that you will not believe what you just read.
But also, because of the amazing art, which is WAAAY TOO GOOD for a comedy story:
Yes, that is a cow being kidnapped by aliens – how cliché but so good! xD
So, if you haven’t tried this manga yet, now is the best time to catch up and get this next volume on FOC!
You will not regret it! :P

I think that the first month of 2026 is quite successful in terms of our FOC’s!
Some great new volumes for amazing on-going series and a new series to fill out wishlists to the brink – what else can you want? :P
