SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY OMNIBUS VOL. 3

How about we start this week’s Newsletter with a somewhat controversial statement: I think One More Day is the best thing that could have happened to Spider-Man. Why? For one, because without it, we wouldn’t have this epic collection of stories by some of comics’ most talented voices!

One More Day was a real turning point, closing the book on one era and setting the stage for something entirely new. Out of that came Brand New Day, which welcomed a whole roster of exciting creators into Spider-Man’s world. There isn’t enough space here to name them all, but when you have talents like Mark Waid regularly contributing, you know you’re in for something special.

This omnibus collects the kind of stories Spider-Man fans might have been missing for a while now, especially after the underwhelming Spencer and Wells runs. You’ll find Spidey at his best, though there’s a bittersweet note, knowing Marvel wiped away parts of Peter Parker’s past, including his marriage to Mary Jane, to get here. Still, Brand New Day truly revitalized the character for a new generation. With a wide range of creators delivering some of the strongest, most self-contained Spider-Man stories in years, this is a collection no fan should miss out on.

 INVINCIBLE IRON MAN OMNIBUS VOL. 4

This Iron Man Omnibus offers a fascinating look at the early days of a character who would eventually become the face of the MCU. It’s a bit of a shame that the Marvel films never fully captured the color, weirdness, and playful spirit that made the original comics so memorable. This collection gives you a chance to see what the movies left behind and it’s still a fantastic read, even if your only experience with Iron Man is on the big screen. The “War of the Super-Villains” arc alone, with showdowns between M.O.D.O.K., the Mandarin, and others, is worth checking out.

Packed with iconic moments from veteran writers and artists, this omnibus shows how Iron Man became the character we know today. It’s a key part of Marvel history, and its influence is still felt in comics and beyond. Honestly, you could argue that without these stories, the MCU might never have existed… Whether that’s good or bad is up to you! For my part, I’ll say this: watching our beloved co-worker Simone tear up during the Thunderbolts climax makes the whole thing feel at least a little bit worth it.

CYBERPUNK 2077 LIBRARY EDITION VOL. 2

Cyberpunk is one of those rare new franchises that managed to carve out a real place in pop culture in a relatively short time. After the game’s rocky and much-criticized launch, it seemed destined for failure. But to their credit, CD Projekt Red doubled down, investing in the world and turning things around. The Netflix series Edgerunners became a hit, and honestly, comics also feel like the perfect home for this kind of sci-fi storytelling.

This second hardcover volume collects several self-contained stories from some of the industry’s most exciting creators. Dan Watters, for example, explores the MaxTac psycho squad. You’ll also find a gang war romance in XOXO and a street-racing coming-of-age tale in Kickdown. Against all odds, this franchise has earned its place, and this collection is definitely a strong addition to its growing legacy.
