Maintenant, elle aide Jasmine à gérer une auberge enchantée dans le Lancashire (avec une légère réticence et un petit air bougon), où elle doit composer avec les frasques de ses clients excentriques, essayer de garder le fameux renard parlant sous contrôle, et regretter l’avenir qui semble lui avoir échappé. Mais elle découvre alors un ancien sort qui pourrait bien détenir la clé pour restaurer son pouvoir… Voici Luke Larsen, un historien de la magie séduisant et glacial, qui arrive par une sombre soirée d’hiver et pourrait bien savoir comment percer les secrets du sort. Luke n’a absolument aucune envie de se mêler du chaos loufoque de l’auberge et il est hors de question qu’il laisse une certaine aubergiste ensorcelante franchir ses défenses ; pourtant, personne n’est plus surpris que lui lorsqu’il accepte d’aider Sera avec son sort. Pire encore, il pourrait bien être en train de fondre. Gérer une auberge, récupérer une magie perdue et garder une longueur d’avance sur la Guilde aux aguets, c’est beaucoup pour n’importe qui, mais Sera Swan est sur le point de découvrir qu’elle n’a pas à affronter tout ça seule... et que l’étrange et merveilleuse famille qu’elle s’est construite est peut-être la plus belle des magies.
