Created by Dick Ayers and Ray Krank, Rex Fury was originally known as the Calico Kid, who together with his white horse Spectre became the Ghost Rider! Wearing a white outfit covered with phosphorus and using a cape that had phosphorescent on one side and black on the other, he could cover parts of his body to give the illusion that he was merely a floating head or pair of hands. To further the illusion, he wielded a black lariat and black bullwhip-even Spectre glowed in the dark! The Ghost Rider battled many foes, who like him, were not truly supernatural at all, such as an imposter of Frankenstein's Monster and the Harpy, werewolves and vampires! Collects Magazine Enterprise's Ghost Rider #1-5 (August 1950-1951).
Créé par Dick Ayers et Ray Krank, Rex Fury s’appelait à l’origine le Calico Kid, et avec son cheval blanc Spectre, il est devenu le Ghost Rider ! Vêtu de blanc et recouvert de phosphore, avec une cape phosphorescente d’un côté et noire de l’autre, il pouvait dissimuler certaines parties de son corps pour donner l’illusion qu’il n’était qu’une tête flottante ou une simple paire de mains. Pour renforcer cet effet, il maniait un lasso noir et un fouet noir — même Spectre brillait dans le noir ! Le Ghost Rider affrontait de nombreux ennemis qui, comme lui, n’avaient rien de vraiment surnaturel, comme un imposteur du Frankenstein's Monster, la Harpy, des loups-garous et des vampires !
