Welcome To The First Graphic Novel NL of 2026!
TABLE OF CONTENTS

Happy new year!

Or happy new month! Or happy new day!
I hope you’ve started January off well!

I almost did, but then Walt sat me down to announce that he won’t bring me any unsolicited magnets from his vacations anymore. There was an Awkward Pause. I kept a nonchalant poker face, but honestly I am DE-VAS-TA-TED!

Oops. Someone did snap a picture of Walt (right) and me (left) during that conversation.

2026 already isn’t looking great. Which is such a pity, because my New Year’s resolution was to not steal comics anymore.
Guess I’ll go back to my old ways and steal graphic novels RIGHT AWAY.

You Know What's Also Stolen?

If this is your first time reading the Graphic Novel Newsletter, you should know it’s all about:

  1. Making Walt anxiously sweat in fear about what the next whistleblow in this newsletter will be.
  2. Curating some nice overlooked and way-too-looked-at graphic novels.

And now you’re wondering: yeah, but what’s “stolen”?

Well, the few grams we don’t count during the Kilo Sale at Open Warehouse because some of us are bad at math? Those are stolen (you’re welcome ;D).

If you want, consider the freebies as stolen too.

And then there are our Graphic Novel Deals starting at 3,99€ that are so cheap, they definitely feel stolen (haha, what a cheap joke).

My next steal from that collection? Nights Season One by Wyatt Kennedy and Luigi Formisano.

The description looks fun as hell, but the real selling point for me is Formisano’s art. It’s giving early-2000s adult animation: so nostalgia-ridden, that it's making you feel like these characters will simply get you.

Eisner worthy scriptwriting!

So it’s basically DanDaDan but without an anime. Oh wait… rumour has it it’s getting its own animated show. Whaaaaat?!

Right now, there are around 450 graphic novel deals:

The Original Graphic Novel Of The Month

At the end of the year, I did an inventory of all my books at home and picked this one up, and I almost dropped it because the guy on the cover startled me.

I rushed to read it, because if I didn’t like it, I’d have an excuse to give it away and not stare at that awkward figure on the cover for the rest of my life.

When I started reading, I thought: why did I even get this book in the first place? And then I remembered I only got it because of Matheus’ article about Daniel Clowes.

Sorry for the jumpscare :(You guessed it, I’m talking about Wilson (which apparently also got a movie adaptation?!)

I wanted to throw Wilson out, but after reading it, I’m glad I didn’t. I think Wilson needs us more than he’d ever admit.

And it reminded me what Daniel Clowes is all about: radical, cold truth, and a weird kind of kindness (Thank you Matheus!).

DANIEL CLOWES COLLECTIONGood news: we’ve got more indie / small-press / original graphic novels like Wilson and weirder in that collection too:
