The classic Gundam series now in a premium Deluxe Edition hardcover!PRAISE FOR THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING SERIES “It’s a good book. Very good, actually. Very good war comics, requiring no prior experience with anime or mecha or Gundam—just a… read more
Every now and then you come across a comic that completely blows you away with its sense of scale—one that carries its momentum from the first page to the last, that knows exactly what it wants to be and how to achieve it. Every page feels worth dissecting for the sheer craft on display. Reading it feels almost otherworldly. Books like these make you fall in love with comics all over again and remind you of the limitless possibilities of the medium. They also make it very hard to shut up about them (as my ever-busy colleagues at Walt’s can certainly attest to). So, the single reason I was assigned this newsletter is simply because I can’t shut up about Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin.
I’d always known about Gundam’s popularity, but with decades of anime and manga behind it, I never knew where to begin. I found it too intimidating. That was until I read the first volume of The Origin series, a retelling of the original show in manga form, which I can’t recommend enough as the perfect entry point into the vast world of Gundam. You’re dropped straight into the middle of the conflict between the Earth Federation and the forces of Zeon and introduced to central figures like Amuro Ray, Sayla Mass, and Char Aznable, characters who have carried this franchise since its dawn.
The release of the first Mobile Suit Gundam Deluxe Hardcover was easily my most anticipated comic of the year, and I’m happy to say it lived up to every expectation (and then some).
It might also be the single biggest book on my shelf right now, about the size of two omnibuses stacked together. If you’ve been waiting for a hardcover heavy enough to test the limits of your shelves, this is the one.

As the only person at Walt’s who actually cares about Star Wars, I feel obligated to talk to you about this epic upcoming Omni. Hidden Empire is the final chapter in Charles Soule’s trilogy, following War of the Bounty Hunters and Crimson Reign. This story pulls us into the Star Wars underworld, where Crimson Dawn, led by Qi’ra, steps up to challenge the Empire in a way we haven’t seen before.
It’s Qi’ra’s return that really sets this trilogy apart from recent Star Wars comic releases. Introduced as Han Solo’s first great love in Solo: A Star Wars Story and played by Emilia Clarke, Qi’ra becomes a force in her own right in these comics. Even though Solo didn’t light up the box office (and sadly served as the final nail in the coffin before Star Wars stories shifted from the big screen to Disney+), Qi’ra has turned into a standout character, thanks to Soule and his creative team.
The trilogy is set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, during Han’s not-so-thrilling stint in carbonite. While Han is on ice, everything else is in motion, with plenty of that classic Star Wars adventure and just enough twists and turns to keep things fresh. Charles Soule managed to deliver a story worthy of the scale and magnitude one would expect from one of the biggest Star Wars Comic-Events in recent years.

When Jonathan Hickman wrapped up his run on X-Men with Inferno, he handed the reins to a new trio: Al Ewing (X-Men: Red), Kieron Gillen (Immortal X-Men), and Gerry Duggan (X-Men). Each writer explores a different side of mutantkind, guiding the Krakoa era in their own way.
This Omnibus collects Duggan’s flagship X-Men run, where the mutant’s step back into the spotlight as the superheroes, they’ve always been known for. These are big, classic, high-stakes stories, the kind that remind you why the X-Men have always been at the heart of the Marvel universe. And with Pepe Larraz’s stunning art bringing it all to life, saying this book is a visual treat is an understatement. It’s most exciting parts come when Cyclops and Jean Grey------

That is dedication you cannot fake.
At Weyland-Yutani, we grow when we work together. Just as the xenomorph cannot exist without its host, we cannot achieve success without each of you.
