Jokes aside, I was just checking the previous weeksâ FOCs, and my gosh, things are already sold out. Gone are the days when we could prolong it just that little bit longer until we pull the trigger on a book. And therefore, itâs imperative we dive into this weekâs FOC books. What am I getting? What are YOU getting?
Justice League Of America: The Bronze Age Omnibus Vol. 4
This book is the quintessential late-â70s JLA. Try to say that fast three times. There are some lovely, fun, and milestone-setting stories here, told by legends like Gerry Conway, George PĂ©rez, Marv Wolfman, and so many more!
In this book, you will find Darkseid, Starro, Red Tornadoâs origins, The Fury of Firestorm (the good one! Just kidding, the ongoing is so great too, and you should pick it up!). There are multiversal shenanigans that have now become run-of-the-mill in all superhero media, but back then, they were not just your regular Tuesday! Best of all, thereâs a lot of heart put into these stories, and the book is a must-have for all JLA lovers.

My friend Ethan (hi E!) loves talking (flexing) about his Zelda books. Loves showing them off. While I have never been the biggest Zelda guy (Mario for the win), those books are awesome, and Iâm very jealous every time I see them. So, for you all, I reached out to him, and this is what he had to say about this book (he already pre-ordered it, of course):
âIn my opinion, the âBreath of the Wildâ-era games are good games, but theyâre not really good Zelda games. However, these books are great if you are into game development and Zelda like me! The BotW - Creating a Champion goes into the development, history, lore... One of my favorite pages is about the development of aesthetic: showing Link riding a motorbike with aliens and UFOs and stuff! I donât know whatâs in this one yet, but the BotW one was cool! Thereâs also so much great art that I was planning on having random pages open for display!â

Crisis on Infinite Earths is still not done in Finest (ending in February), but weâre already getting hit by Legends! This was the first event/crossover in the post-Crisis DC world. It included a six-issue miniseries, but many titles were wrapped under the banner (as always happens in these events, even back in the â80s). DC Finest will collect them all, just like they did with Crisis.
The plot of Legends is simple enough: Darkseid sends his servant Glorious Godfrey to Earth, and he turns people against superheroes. Throughout all the stories collected, we see our protagonists try to win back their trust. It was plotted by John Ostrander, scripted by Len Wein, with John Byrne on pencils and Karl Kesel on inks: one legend after the other!

Maybe itâs due to the influx of DCâs compendiums, but Iâve been liking these big trades more and more lately. And I never expected a silly action series from my childhood to come back 30 years later and slap me in the face, but there we have it.
What Ryan Parrott did with this series is pure magic. Itâs messy, heartfelt teenage drama that I love, mixed with the action that happens once they put their helmets on. Iâve always been nostalgic for Angel Grove, and the team (with Dan Mora and Eleonora Carlini amongst other artists) knocked it out of the park!
