A Moment for a Legend.
He wasn’t just one of the greatest Amazing Spider-Man writers. He also co-created iconic characters like the Punisher, Ms. Marvel, Firestorm, Jason Todd, Power Girl… the list goes on! The man shaped the very fabric of both Marvel and DC, and
I will forever be grateful for the enjoyment he brought over the years. Pour one out for an absolute titan of the medium.

Superman: The Triangle Era Omnibus Vol. 3
Let’s start by addressing the elephant in the room: how come the price of every of these Triangle Era omnibuses is different? Not only that, but it keeps increasing… That doesn’t bode well for Volume 4, does it?
However, if there is one era of Superman that justifies cracking open your piggy bank, then it’s this one. And while I have only dabbled my little toes into the waters of this Man of Steele, you don’t need to be a Kryptonian scholar to know the cultural impact Death of Superman had.
This volume drops us right into the glorious, mullet-fueled 90s madness. The rise of four Supermen who try to replace Kal-El after his death and the eventual return (and his own black-costume saga) are all in this nifty little tome. If you want the blueprints of the modern DC events, you will find them here.
X-Men: Age Of Krakoa By Kieron Gillen Omnibus
If you know me, you know I loooove me my Kieron Gillen. Coincidentally or not, his Immortal X-Men run was one of my absolute favorite books during the Krakoan age. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me think about life and all the good stuff a book should do. And all while wrapped in a fantastic X-Men package.
Gillen just gets how X-Men work (as you can see in his just-released Uncanny X-Men omnibus). In Krakoa, he kept blending high-stakes mutant politics with the most delicious, theatrical camp imaginable.

If you like the sharp, dramatic flair that follow all of his books, you will find it here in abundance. And due to Krakoan resurrection protocols, the backstabbing also gets amplified tenfold. If you want your X-Men serving looks while dealing with some Game of Thrones politics, this is a must-buy.
(A note of caution though: these author omins will have overlap with *eventual* Destiny of X omnis that should follow Reign of X books. Plan your X-books so your wallet doesn’t cry too much!)
Pride Of Baghdad The 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition
I am sorry to disappoint you all, but this book will not be a part of your gay agenda. Even though it was written by masterful Brian K. Vaughan. Instead, it’s about lions!
BKV is hands-down one of the most compelling writers in the medium, and this is one of his best works. I wasn’t able to grab the hardcover 20 years ago, but I am very happy to do so now.

He takes a true story of a pride of lions escaping the Baghdad Zoo during the 2003 bombing and turns it into an absolute masterpiece. It’s heartbreaking and beautifully illustrated by Nico Henrichon. Bring your tissues: you’re going to need them!

See you,
