Don't miss these FOC titles this week!
TABLE OF CONTENTS

I’m turning in this newsletter way past the deadline - Gloriana, Cristian, have mercy!
If upper management lets it slide, we can celebrate: I still have a job!
(Walt’s Comic Shop has a strict no-harming-employees policy - promise.)

But most importantly, you get to celebrate!
There’s some juicy stuff in this FOC:
- a character my teenage self would’ve adored,
- one of the stories I’ve been dying to get in a complete edition,
- and something to help keep the hype going after the new Superman movie.

🕷️ Superior Spider-Man Returns Omnibus

If I could meet my 14-year-old self, I’d probably slap him. That little snob refused anything pop or mainstream.

Batman? Get that away from me.
Watcher? I must read every-single-panel he appears in!

Result:
It took me way too long to give our web-slinging friend the attention he deserves.
And of all his versions?
Superior Spider-Man is the most interesting. Period.

(Don’t agree? Feel free to send your opinion to statement@waltscomicshop.com, I’ll personally make sure to ignore it.)

So… Who’s Superior Spider-Man?

If you’re asking, it means you missed the first omnibus.
That’s bad.
(Here’s the link - fix that immediately.)

Short version: Otto Octavius swaps bodies with Peter Parker.
He becomes Spider-Man.
But better.
Superior, even.
(My teenage self would have loved that.)

What’s in this second omnibus?

It picks up right after Slott’s first run and collects the follow-up series and key tie-ins.

Everything you need in two glorious volumes.
Ultimate Spider-Man readers - this is your bookverse heaven.

What now?
Pre-order Omni Vol. 2 - while you wait, reread the first one and make space on your shelf for its buddy.
(It’s scientifically proven: lonely omnibuses get sad. Love your Omni. Give it a friend.)

🕯️ Welcome to Kings Hill - Friday By Ed Brubaker an Marcos Martin

It’s dark outside and you’re home alone: you’d love a story that makes you feel surrounded by friends.
A little mystery could be perfect. Some supernatural? Even better.
You reach for IT on your shelf - just looking at it reminds you how many times you’ve read it.
Friends text you the three-parts Stranger Things 5 release dates - your head hurts already.
You’ve already worn out Locke & Key
✋ Breathe.
Ed Brubaker’s got you.

Friday arrives in its complete edition: Friday Fitzhugh and Lancelot Jones used to solve mysteries in their small town - until life pulled them apart.
But when they meet again, they fall into a spiral of mystery and paranormal.
Ghosts? Maybe. Grief? Definitely.
And you’ll grow to love them both.

I had paused the series during my first read, and now I absolutely need to finish it.
Why now?
I waited for the complete edition on purpose.
This story begs to be read in one sitting.
Send it my way… and no one gets hurts!

Pre-order before FOC!
Readers of Horror Country - I’m talking to you.
You will not regret it.

🩵 DC Finest: My Shelf Looks Better Already – Supergirl by Peter David

DC Finest is one of my favorite formats - It’s sleek on the shelf and I love the concept: each volume tied to specific years, with the spine art evolving with the character.

Just. Perfect.

And this Supergirl by Peter David and Gary Frank?
It already has a spot saved in my collection.

🕰️ But first, let’s rewind.

You don’t need to be a superhero nerd to know Peter David. Maybe the most iconic Marvel writer after Stan Lee. He gave us Spider-Man 2099, X-Factor, and the best Incredible Hulk run ever.
Yes, ever.

(That’s another statement - you already have the email, right?)

And he brings all of that experience into Supergirl.

The result?
The most fascinating version of the character we’ve seen.

Not your classic Supergirl? Exactly.

I know some people say: "This isn’t the real Supergirl!" or "Peter David changed everything!"

So what?

What we get is a deeper character, a tone shift, brilliant dialogue, and Gary Frank absolutely killing it on art.

Do what I did: lock in your pre-order AND thank me later.

What’s inside?
This volume collects the first 18 issues and a few specials - but this is one of those long runs that deserves to be read in full.
Now I need the rest of the run in the same DC Finest format - ASAP!

Can’t wait for this one to hit the shop, and BIG SPOILER INCOMING IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE SUPERMAN MOVIE YET SKIP AFTER THE IMAGE-

.

.

.

James Gunn’s final scene did nothing to ease my craving for more Supergirl stories.
