WHAT A SUPERGIRL TRAILER YESTERDAYâ WOW!
(Iâm actually writing this before the trailer released, but Iâm not letting you future people receiving this on Friday leave Thursday-morning Math out of the conversation.)
I love the part where she goes BANG, and then the other part where Krypton goes WOOF!, and then Lobo goes, âIâm Lobo, guysâhi.â
(I donât know what Lobo would say. If I ever read a Lobo issue, I was probably at gunpoint or something.)
Weird part where Supergirl goes, âLobo fans, donât come to newsletter Math,â but I love this free creative writing in the DCU.
If you loved the trailer as much as I did, check out DCâs Supergirl Next Door #1 one-shot on FOC today.
(A LINK IN THE COLD OPENING??? HELL YEAHâTRUTH, JUSTICE, WHATEVER!!!!)(I needed a space to plug this, but Iâm running out of space and improvising.)
DC REPRINTING GALORE
YOU GET A NEW PRINTING. YOU GET A NEW PRINTING.
Imma shoot straight with you: itâs hard not to make the single-issues newsletter the DC Comics show featuring guests.
DC is killing it. There is no denying that.
So I gotta lead with the headline of the week:
Absolute Batman is hitting a 10th printing.
Yes, if you still havenât gotten your copy of the comic blockbuster of the decade, they are giving you not one, not two, but TEN chances to get this right.
When is the last time you got a 10th chance at something? Even telling my boyfriend, âIâll do the dishes, donât worry,â only works up until the 8th or 9th attempt.
PRE-ORDER HEREAlso available is this AWESOME InHyuk Lee variant cover for the occasion. Thatâs the guy who does all those streetverse-cool Marvel covers, with characters looking like theyâd slightly bully you while holding a Starbucks cupâpartially ironically (cool alert!).

Absolute Bruce would NOT hold a Starbucks cup he would only hold local non-gentrified plain coffee cups BUT he is also looking very cool.
Absolute Batman #1 Inhyuk Lee Cover
But thatâs not all⊠because Absolute Batman 2025 Annual #1 is getting a 2nd Printing!
If you havenât read this yet (or anything Absolute at all) and just want to take a peek, this is it. And itâs a peek that goes ALL IN.
This is a look back at the early days of Batman by Daniel Warren Johnson, the superstar behind the recent Transformers reboot.
THAT BATMOBILE PANEL WILL MAKE YOU WANT TO RIP IT OUT AND FRAME IT, I PROMISE YOU.
Absolute Batman #16
Moving on toâahnn⊠no, sorry, staying with Absolute Batman one more time, because:
This is a big one, since itâs the second issue in the Absolute Batman/Wonder Woman crossover that started this week.
The cover itself is iconic, and I love the choice for our first lead-character crossover. ThisâDianaâs determination with Bruceâs tenacityâis something I very much look forward to.
If thereâs one thing connecting all these books, itâs the heartbreaking tragedy and the refusal to make that their weaknessâvery much their original mythos twisted to the extreme. And they come out for good all the same.
Anyway, Iâm blabbing⊠I LOVE this universe.
DC K.O.: Green Lantern Galactic Slam #1
Not only of the Absolute lives the manâwe also DC K.O.
We DC K.O. very much here at Waltâs, OK?
Jeremy Adams brings his run into the fun, all-out madness this event is. And âslamâ is a great word to describe what heâs been doing on the green side of the universe for a while.
His Green Lantern returns to an epic-blockbuster saga akin to the cherished Geoff Johns era and, more importantly, gets every single character to have an impact on the story.
The sensation I get reading Green Lantern or Corps right now is always âthis is intenseâ and âthis is massive.â
So, give this one-shot centered on everybodyâs favorite boy, Kyle Rayner, a try. (Maybe, if we buy this enough and hold hands, he can get a new book and the compendium, Volume 2.)
There are great things about events, sometimes: they give you a chance to discover great runs like this one. Donât miss it.
PRE-ORDER HERE(PS: Every single DC K.O. book and tie-in is getting new printingsâlook out for that!!)
MARVEL ALSO HAS REPRINTS!
Captain America by Chip Zdarsky!!!
Yes, before everyone yells at me: Marvel has some heavy weapons on their side as well.
Our friend Chip Zdarsky is bringing a new vision to Steve Rogers, and a new character taking the role of Cap, with David Colton.
Disillusioned soldiers confronting their countryâs ideals, and Steve having to adapt to a world that has grown out of the black-and-white WWII perspective, is not necessarily something we havenât touched before, BUT Chipâs careful writing and meticulous setting make this run stand out, with a compelling case for why, indeed, maybe we SHOULD be touching on these subjects now more than ever.
You can see heâs rewriting it as a sort of framing for a bigger story. And with Armageddon being the publisherâs big event next year, it only cements this idea.
No wonder this first arc is a flashback.
Doom and Latveria are the perfect battleground for soul-searching and moral grayness. I feel like this reflects very well in Frank Martinâs colour work and Valerio Schitiâs pencils. The Cap book feels meticulous without losing the sense of grandiosity of the tragedy in these charactersâ psychologies.
Great timing for you to get in, because ALL FIVE first issues are getting reprints. Yes. All of them.
Check out everything on pre-order here:
All of our orders run until Saturday, 4 p.m. If you have any doubts, send Heiko an email and he will get you sorted (maybe HE read a Lobo comicâwho knows???)
OK, definitely running long today. Gloriana, please donât be mad.
Always blaming it on the reprints,
Math
