Watch Later, Read Now: Manga Sources for Spring 2026 Anime

Every season, it happens again.

A new wave of anime drops, everyone starts talking about the same titles, and suddenly it feels like you’re either catching up… or already behind. But here’s the thing: Most of these stories have been around for a while. Sitting quietly on shelves, waiting until the anime announcement hits and everything changes. 😂

This month, I picked a few manga and light novel series getting anime adaptations in Spring 2026. Some are already well-loved, others are still flying a bit under the radar. All of them are worth your time.

And yes, I know. Some big titles are missing. JoJo, Beastars… I see you. But there are so many adaptations this season, I had to make some choices. So I picked four I really wanted to talk about.

Let’s get ahead of the curve, just a little. (Okay… maybe not completely ahead. By the time this reaches you, some of these might already be two episodes in. But still. It counts. 😬😏)

The Big Player: Witch Hat Atelier

Let’s be honest for a second. This one isn’t exactly a hidden gem anymore.

Witch Hat Atelier has been quietly building a very dedicated fanbase for years, and for good reason. But with the anime adaptation coming up, it’s about to reach a whole new level of attention.

The story follows Coco, a girl who dreams of becoming a witch in a world where magic is supposed to be something you’re born into, not something you can learn. Which makes what happens to her early on… both magical and a little bit terrifying.

What really sets this series apart, though, isn’t just the story. It’s the way magic itself is treated. Not as something vague or mysterious, but as something you can study, understand, and carefully construct. Almost like drawing. Which makes sense, because the artwork here is honestly stunning. If you’ve been meaning to pick this up at some point, consider this your sign.

The Other Big Boy: Daemons of the Shadow Realm

If you’ve read Fullmetal Alchemist, you already know what Hiromu Arakawa is capable of. So yes, expectations here are… not exactly low. I’ll be honest, I’m a huge fan. I’ve basically picked up everything she’s released in English or German at this point.

Daemons of the Shadow Realm blends folklore, mystery, and action into something that feels familiar in the best way. Twins separated at birth, hidden powers, and a world where supernatural beings exist just slightly out of sight. It sounds classic, and it is, but it’s executed with a lot of confidence.

What I really enjoy is how grounded it feels despite the premise. The story leans on its characters more than spectacle, and there’s a quiet sense of control in how everything unfolds.

I’ve seen some early reactions to the first episode saying it feels a bit confusing or fast. And honestly… I get that. But this is very much intentional. It’s exactly how Arakawa sets up this stage of the story. Things feel a little off at first, pieces don’t fully click yet, and then suddenly, a few chapters later, everything starts to fall into place. Trust the process. She knows what she’s doing.

This is one of those series that will definitely grow once the anime hits. So if you want to get ahead of the curve, now’s a pretty good time.

The Jump Sleepers

What would an anime season be without at least a couple of Jump adaptations? This time, MARRIAGETOXIN and Akane-banashi are stepping into the spotlight.

Both are fan favorites, but they’ve never quite reached the level of the big names like Jujutsu Kaisen or Dandadan. Which, honestly, makes them even more interesting. Each of them brings a very distinct concept to the table. MARRIAGETOXIN leans into chaotic energy and weird setups, while Akane-banashi takes something as niche as rakugo and turns it into a surprisingly gripping character story.

And I’ll admit, I personally lean more towards Akane-banashi. Akane is just… a great character. Confident, driven, a little stubborn, and very easy to root for. Trust me, it's a great Manga and one of the Shonen, that writes good female Protagonists.

The Underdog: Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring

If you liked Violet Evergarden, there’s a good chance this might be for you. It’s based on a novel by Kana Akatsuki, the same author, which already sets a certain expectation in terms of tone and emotional storytelling.

And yet… this is one of those series I feel people tend to overlook. Maybe it’s the premise. Maybe it’s the covers. Maybe it’s just the sheer amount of fantasy romance titles out there right now. It doesn’t immediately scream “must-read,” which sounds a bit harsh when I say it out loud. But sometimes that’s exactly what happens. Especially in genres that already have a lot of strong competition.

And to be fair, this isn’t even really my main genre. I haven’t read the manga yet, but I did watch the first two episodes of the anime. Yes, I sacrificed myself for research purposes. You’re welcome. And honestly? I enjoyed it more than I expected.

In this Story Spring has disappeared, and with it, balance. The role of restoring that balance falls to the “Agents of the Four Seasons,” individuals who carry the responsibility of bringing the seasons back into the world. Our protagonist, a young goddess entrusted with spring, has to overcome loss, expectation, and the weight of that responsibility.
