Collected Editions Renaissance Within This Week's FOC... HELP! :O
TABLE OF CONTENTS

After triangles, I wonder what Superman’s pentagon era would be?

Guys, I think DC is losing money by not printing a Calvin Ellis: Superman: Pentagon Era Omnibus.

DC collected-edition daddies, hire me!!!! Or should I say, “Paramount daddies, hire me,” after Netflix dropped out of the Warner deal?

What do we think about that, comics fans? Paramount owning DC… an insane thing to say.

DC’s been in such a collected-edition renaissance over the past year that I worry corporate turmoil would ruin our momentum.

DC collected-edition daddies, please print every single thing ever in the next year or so, millions upon millions of copies, and justify it as, “uhnn, James Gunn said so.”

See? They should hire me for my outstanding ideas. OK. Aside from becoming a billionaire, we can’t do anything. So let’s just order our FOCs.
And this week, we have some DC fan dreams in the making.

Superman: Brainiac Reborn Omnibus HC

DC daddies, thank you. (I will not stop with the daddies thing. I started, and I’m sticking with it.)

You could have called this “Superman: OK, fans, we did what you asked. Let us sleep. Leave our families alone, pls. Omnibus,” and nobody would have batted an eye.

But “Brainiac Reborn” should do it.
THIS IS INDEED THE GAP FILLER BETWEEN THE EXILE OMNIBUS AND THE TRIANGLE ERA LINE.

Daddy filled the gaps!!!!! (OK, I see it now. I’m dropping it.)

The title seems to be surfing the hype of last year’s Man of Tomorrow announcement: Gunn’s Superman sequel, with Brainy as the villain.
With German actor Lars Eidinger!!!

(I have no idea who he is, since I don’t watch German films because they don’t release English-sub versions. Please sign my petition relating to this.)

We have a path for a post-Crisis complete line for Superman, and I couldn’t be happier. Especially because it’s mostly material I haven’t really read in full. It sounds confusing (I know, I know: the triangles. Let me be dumb).

Now we just need that Byrne announcement, and we’ll be happy forever.

Yeah, daddies, just give us more. (I tricked you! I kept the daddy thing.)

DC Finest: Supergirl: Die And Let Live TP

The second volume of Peter David’s legendary run is finally out.

Probably to tie in with the movie release, but thank God either way. (God as in movie synergy, we never complain about you!)

This (partially) makes me happy for all of us who have been dying to have this on our shelves for years.

Peter David is such a legend. I’ve been on a bender with Aquaman, Hulk, Young Justice, and X-Factor this year, and it’s outstanding how many defining runs he delivered. His work will forever stay with us. Supergirl is not that far behind.

Also, issue #1 has one of my favorite covers ever. Such a clever and subtle rethinking that sells you immediately on the book. (It’s also a thread that leads to my GOAT, so yeah.)

The “partially happy” part is only because now I can’t gloat anymore about how we got a recent hardcover collection of the run in Brazil. Well, that lives at my mom’s house, so I’ll need one for my German house!

Absolute Green Lantern Vol. 2

Very mad (resisting the absolutely mad) that people are sleeping on this run.

I think Ewing is delivering a very experimental and esoteric, flawed, character-forward story with this book. Picking Jo to lead it was a clever idea. The use of the rest of the cast is also great, and Cameron Chase!! (Superfans’ favorite character when we want to out-niche another superfan and still look cool.)

If you haven’t fallen in love with Jo, go read Far Sector and witness the best Green Lantern book of the century. Absolute GL isn’t exactly that, but some really bold character choices continue in new, inventive ways.

Stop sleeping on Ewing, for God’s sake!!! (God here is not related to movie synergy.)

Space Scouts HC

We stay in the space-cops lane with this indie book by Matt Kindt and David Rubin (Kindt, aka the superfan-favorite author when we want to out-niche the superfan who tries to out-niche us with Cameron Chase and look even cooler).

This is Hunger Games meets Green Lantern, with oversized, glorious, weird art (what a shock when it arrived at my home with my single-issue pulls!).

It’s full of characters called things like Adrian Bro (because he comes from a planet of overmasculine bro-people), all thrown into a deadly reality show to join this universe’s analog to the Guardians of the Galaxy.

(Maybe Marvel should do this. Maybe we can get more than five issues of Guardians that way.)

Please don’t enter space reality shows for money. The daddies will provide. (Can they also pay for my FOC?)
