The Best Star Wars Comics

Star Wars (2020-Present, Marvel) – Picks up after Empire Strikes Back, showing Luke’s path to becoming a Jedi, Lando’s uneasy alliance with the Rebels, and Vader’s continued hunt for Skywalker.
Darth Vader (by Kieron Gillen & Salvador Larroca, Marvel) – Possibly the best Star Wars comic ever. Gillen turns Vader into a Shakespearean-level tragic villain, giving us a chilling, character-driven deep dive into his life between Episodes III and IV. Also, this series gave us Doctor Aphra, one of the best new characters in the franchise.
Darth Vader (by Charles Soule, Marvel) – If Gillen’s Vader was about his fall and isolation, Soule’s run is about his raw, brutal rise to power after Revenge of the Sith. Dark, emotional, and full of intense Sith lore.
The Old Republic (Knights of the Old Republic & Tales of the Jedi; Dark Horse) – Set thousands of years before the movies, these comicsshow the Jedi and Sith at war like we’ve never seen before. If you love KOTOR, these are must-reads.
Doctor Aphra (Marvel) – Spinning out of Darth Vader, Aphra is basically Indiana Jones meets Star Wars with a morally gray lead. She’s brilliant, reckless, and constantly in way over her head. If you want a fresh Star Wars story with a different kind of hero, this is the one.
Star Wars: Bounty Hunters, War of the Bounty Hunters (Marvel) – If you love the grimy underworld of Star Wars, bounty hunters like Boba Fett, Bossk, and Valance get their moment to shine in these action-packed crime stories.

The Thrawn Trilogy (Timothy Zahn) – The original Star Wars expanded universe epic. Thrawn is one of the greatest villains in Star Wars history, and these books are a must-read for fans of galactic strategy and Imperial scheming.
