It’s only the fourth time in comics history that we’re getting a proper Batman #1—and it’s been over a decade since the last one (hello, Tom King). So yes, this is kind of a big deal.
And it delivers.
Matt Fraction hits the right tone and character beats, while Jorge Jimenez and Tomeu Morey are operating at full power—arguably the best in the business right now. Issue #1 sets the stage, but word is that the story really takes off in issue #2. We haven’t seen this level of creative spark on DC’s trinity (and their Absolute mirror versions) in a long time.
