This review is going to be a little review of a charming, little graphic novel titled "The Beginner's Guide To Being Outside" written and illustrated by Gill Hatcher and published by Avery Hill Publishing.
The story revolves around Megan, a city girl, who embarks on a vacation to the Scottish Highlands with her parents. Life at home isn't easy for young Megan, and she initially isn't very excited about the countryside vacation. However, with time, she learns to appreciate and cherish the wonders of nature and the solace it can offer to the soul.
So, what did I personally like about it? Well, as cliché as it may sound, as a city girl myself, it reminded me to take a break and escape into nature occasionally. It served as a reminder that you can meet up with friends in nature, enjoy vacations surrounded by natural beauty, and spend your free time in the great outdoors!
After a while, I came to realize that it indeed serves as a beginner's guide to being outside.
If you happen to visit Walt's next time, you might find me in the cemetery/park a few blocks away, engrossed in a comic, enjoying peaceful reading, surrounded by trees and the usual things you find in a cemetery.
Perhaps you should give it a try too.
