The Bronze Age of Comics marks a pivotal period in the history of American comics, bridging the gap between the lighter Silver Age and the darker Modern Age.

During this era, comics evolved to tackle darker themes and social issues. A new generation of creators brought fresh perspectives and introduced diverse characters and stories.

The Comics Code Authority also relaxed its rules to allow more mature content, including horror and supernatural elements, and also began to lose its relevance.

The Bronze Age also saw the emergence of the direct market (DM), where comic book publishers distributed directly to comic book stores.
