Jim Starlin has had a very successful career both as a writer and as an artist; and he is still very active today. His trademark are cosmic sagas and twisted, messianic figures. Starlin is most high profile for the creation of Thanos, one of the Marvel Universe's most influential villians of all time. What really set him apart however was his ability to mix huge battles between cosmic forces with honest-to-god philosophical discussions, which defined his revolutionary work on not only "The Infinity Gauntlet" but also the "Warlock" series and later in "Dreadstar". The illustrious career of Starlin has endeared generations of comic book fans to his work and he still has a cult following.
