I mean if the shark is gonna be employee of the month - why even bother? Let him cook.
What Can You Look Forward To In October?
Apart from Chip Zdarsky signing at the Warehouse on the 28th of October?
Well, there's also plenty of graphic novels coming out this month/ a lot that recently came out.
First up, a beautiful and slim hardcover from Silver Sprocket called Cry Wolf Girl - a story that reads like a fable, paired with art so vibrant it’ll give you a full-on dopamine kick just from the colors alone! A perfect reminder to read something from smaller indie publishers every now and then — they hit different.
The Road by Cormac McCarthy - long gone for a while, is now back in stock, safe and sound. Lesson of the day: never FOMO.
Spectators by Brian K. Vaughan - which should already be enough reason to pick it up, but still. From the outside, it looks like a hardcover novel, so you can read it on your commute without judgment. On the inside… it’s nasty, unsettling, but so good (don’t worry, restock is on the way).
Coming soon but not quite there yet:
Bitter Root Vol. 4: The Next Movement - I had no clue what this was until I looked it up for this newsletter, and now I actually can’t wait to read it myself!
The Department of Truth Vol. 6: Twilight’s Last Gleaming - even writing about it gives me bad juju, but I know from inside stats this is one of your all-time favorites, so I'll mention it.
Bug Wars Vol. 1: Lost in the Yard - reading the concept you might think, how funny, but reading the story you’ll be like, no, not funny at all 😭 pretty serious.
And finally, Monkey Meat Vol. 2: The Summer Batch - perfectly timed for autumn. Monkeys in a capitalist self-destructing society. Funny, weird, and too real for comfort.
If you don’t want to miss what’s new, check the collection on the homepage from time to time, it changes every few days.
Graphic Novel Deal Of The Month
There are a lot of graphic novel deals right now. Maybe even too many. At the time I’m writing this, there are 1,094. But one stands out in this sea of graphic novels: Bolero by Wyatt Kennedy and Luana Vecchio. It’s the perfect kind of spookiness for October for anyone in the middle of an ongoing and never-ending adult life crisis, but gayyyyy.

Luana Vecchio herself warns: if you start with Bolero and move on to Lovesick, you might end up a little traumatized.
She also gave us a fantastic interview for our fanzine, which is easily one of the biggest highlights, right up there with our chat with George Takei (you can also watch it on YouTube) about his latest graphic novel, It Rhymes With Takei.
Last confession
I’ll admit it – I have a little crush on Filipe Andrade. And so does Simone. And Jakob (he won’t say it out loud, but I can see it in his eyes). The weirdest part? Even Walt’s got one. The man’s married and has like seven kids, but hey, who am I to judge? Woohoo.
Filipe Andrade signed tons of The Many Deaths of Laila Starr hardcovers, Christian Ward left his signature on a stack of Batman: City of Madness, some Two-Face, and a few Aquaman: Andromeda, while Jonas Scharf signed Dark X-Men: The Mercy Crown and Basilisk one, two and three.
All of these will go online as soon as one of our datafluencers takes care of it… though one of them is currently in New York for NYCC this week (and I dearly hope he brings me a magnet back), so it might take a few days.
See you,
Gloriana
Omnis are forever. But not in this space. Enjoy your graphic novels!
