5 Highlights from this Week's FOC
WHAT SHOULD YOU NOT MISS THIS WEEK?
Did meeting the Walt’s Comic Shop team make Chip Zdarsky want to destroy the Avengers?
I’m not saying we’re responsible. But we did have sushi with him on Tuesday. Then Marvel announced this on Friday:

Many questions arise from the tease, like:
- Is that Wiccan?
- Is the guy we’re not sure is Wiccan holding the origin boxes Miles Morales took from the Ultimate Universe?
- Why does the cover remind me of award-winning novels we keep next to our omnis but never read?
- Why is the novel always by Ta-Nehisi Coates, because we all bought it after liking his Marvel Comics?
- Was the sushi responsible, or was it our general vibe?
- Math, how far are you taking this joke?
I can answer at least two of them!!!
- Always blame the sushi!
- ’Til right now!
Let’s FOC, BABY!
Crisis On Infinite Earths Absolute Edition HC (2026 Edition)
While we wait for that Chip-specific end to begin, or the beginning of the end, let’s travel back.
To the original end of all beginnings.
Crisis is getting the Absolute treatment. Historical importance aside, this event is an incredible read for any comics phase.
New to comics?
Get thrown into this madness like many of us did, and you’ll become loyal to the craziness.
It’s like entering an amusement park with infinite money and no adult to tell you no.
Read this a long time ago?
Time to reread it, now that you likely know more DC characters than before. You’ll discover hidden wonders that flew past you the first time.
(And in all cases, you’ll probably look up Legion of Super-Heroes and Justice Society of America in our search bar.)
Crisis is an eternal, self-renewing fossil fuel for comics passion.
An ever-expanding guide to the past and a bold statement for decades to come.
Is this edition worth it?
I’ll give you this instead of telling you:

My boyfriend (who doesn’t read comics) was browsing books on Walt’s warehouse. He found the cover of A Death in the Family and asked, “Is that an homage to…?”
Before he finished, I said, “Crisis, yes.”
He sighed and said, “Well, I was gonna say Pietà.”
I guess that’s a pretty clear look into my mind.

Did you know Dan Slott (the guy you always see on Spider-Man books) is writing for DC Comics now?
Yeah, man. This is—what—third of how-many-books we got in the Summer of Superman initiative?
DC did it as a tie-in for the film.
While Action Comics by Mark Waid has been an expert-guided throwback to Superboy days. Superman is the mainline event-steerer into DC K.O.…
This book has… a bit of everything.
Dan is really good at flashing big action scenes at you.
He makes you stay for the heartwarming humor and quick-witted dialogue.

💕 WHO'S THE BEST MARVEL COUPLE? 💕
Is it Wanda and Vision?
PROS 😍: Only capable of having bisexual children. They probably have the best Marvel TV show ever made. Robot and Witch sound like how I would describe every heterosexual couple I know.
CONS 🤮: A tendency for said kids to have weird Byrne-baby faces. The extended family includes the Grim Reaper. Robot and Witch sound like how I would describe every heterosexual couple I know.

The Thing: The King of Yancy Street TP
(To be fair, Daniel made this joke after getting a drawing of Ben from Chip. I also think Stan Lee probably made this joke to a very tired Kirby, back in the 1500s. So, all fair in love and newsletters.)
