A few weeks ago, I was hanging out with my Maman when she suddenly asked, "What’s the fisherman’s superpower?" I was like… the fisherman? Who? Peter? Jesus’ friend? Or did she mean Walt, since he used to work at a fish market? But no, no, she was talking about Aquaman.

I didn't expect her to be interested in comic at 60+. She never asked me anything about comics... But I guess comics are her religion now.

Eisner Awards 2025

Were you waiting for a sign to finally read:

Wait - Why would you even wait for a sign?

Nevermind. This is your sign. Go read them.

Oh, and by the way, they’re all Eisner-nominated this year.
Some of them also made it into our Top 10 bestselling GNs of the last 30 days.

How To - Episode 12: Not Get Sunburned

Step 1 - Don't go there.

Step 2 - Don’t bring any of these graphic novels to the beach thinking you’ll just read "a few pages." Even shorter graphic novels like Friday Deluxe Edition or Absolute Martian Manhunter Vol 01 or Love Everlasting Vol 03 or Power Fantasy Vol 02 WON'T LET YOU GO!

Step 3 - And don’t even think about taking a Compendium like Something Is Killing The Children Omnibus Vol. 1 or Monstress Compendium TP Vol 01 with you. Yes, they’ll be the sexiest thing on the beach, but you’ll lay on your tummy for four hours and your back? It will be worse than fried chicken.

Step 4 Do Not Click Here Final Step - If you're not sure what to read next, head over to Beyond The Panels and see what the crew - Petar, Matheus and Daniel - cooked up. Even Gail Simone approves (backflip for Matheus, please), that's like the craziest thing ever!

But again: read it not at the beach.

FAQ

1. A few words about the BIG HUGE Event on September 20th, 2025.

If you’re not based in Berlin: do you need a hotel?
Honestly, if you can ride into town and back the same day, that should be more than enough.

Is it going to be worth it?

Of course it will be!

Will the event be in your shady warehouse?

Yes! I mean, we already have our Open Warehouse Saturday, every last Saturday of the month, until the end of time, so we kinda know how to handle people in the warehouse. I mean at least 15 to 40 and a few occasional babys. Buuut not 100 or more. hehe.

On a side note, Simone and I really enjoyed the last one in June. It was nice to see some new faces and it was nice to see old faces. Days like these are just a reminder that you people are the coolest. Period.

So if you have any ideas on how to make the day even nicer- crazy sales? a tour of the boss’s bureau? a purge day? let us know at gloriana@waltscomicshop.com.

2. Can people really convert to comicism?

Of course they can. There’s a good friend of mine who never touched a comic (gasp!), started working here, fell in love with Jeff, you know the little landshark from Marvel, and last week bought a James Tynion IV book.

3. Did Simone really write his autobiography?

Of course he did! And you can even buy it at Walt's! Just click here. I’ve rarely read something as sentimental and emotionally honest as this book, so give it a chance.

Graphic Novels Ok, that’s it. Thanks for pulling through, you're the best. I hope graphic novels can be your well-deserved escape from this weird reality in July. Was about to write love you but that might be too much… so ok bye, love you.
