Hello there and welcome to another instalment of the newsletter that’s... still a little overwhelmed by the sheer amount of omnibuses Omar announced this month over at Near Mint Condition. Holy sardines, there were over 20! In one month!! My poor shelves. I guess there's only one thing to do...

You're welcome

Anyway, that's a later-this-year(-and-next-year) problem, as the clock is ticking down on us RIGHT NOW! It’s technically still March, but we’re running out of hours, so let’s dive in stat and see if we can actually keep this newsletter a monthly one.

A BIG BOOK DEAL FOR EVERYONE

Every month we try and pick an upcoming book or two to offer at an irresponsibly low price, dubbing it our Big Book Deal of the month. The idea is that if we receive lots of pre-orders for these books, the low price might pay off for everyone in the end. Any risk is all on us, and we’re not sure what came over us this month, because we picked no less than FIVE of them!

A quick rundown:

Catwoman, fainted from excitement, regrettably missing her own presentation of the Walt Exclusive Cover.

If there’s one book that stands out among the Big Book Deals this month, it has to be Jim Aparo’s DC Classics Artist Edition HC! That's because it comes with a store exclusive cover that only we can offer you! Even not counting this limited print exclusive (but... why wouldn't you?!), it is a true collector’s item on its own, showcasing the defining DC art of the 1970’s and 1980’s on over 175 pages of Jim’s iconic inks. They’re black and white, but all scanned in colour to ensure the gradients are accurately represented.

It’s a truly magnificent book, celebrating the legendary creator who hooked a generation to both Batman and comics, and we’re absolutely stoked to be able to offer you a unique cover. Just look at it, it’s amazing! 🤩

BTW, all these offers last all the way up to F.O.C., which means that some of the last months’ Big Book Deals are still up for grabs as well! Be sure to take a gander at all of them, here:

APRIL’S RECORD-BREAKING PRE-ORDERS

It’s actually pretty obvious why we picked so many Big Book Deals this month. With almost 300 (!!) books going up for pre-order in our store, I’d say we were limiting ourselves as much as humanly possible! There are truly so many other sensational books on the way, all pre-orderable at really good prices by their F.O.C. as well. Here are just a couple of my personal favourites:

She-Hulk by Rainbow Rowell Omnibus is an omni that’s been near the top of my wishlist for a while. I've been a fan of Rainbow since I read and fell totally in love with her phenomenally fun run on Runaways, and I was relieved to see that the same lighthearted but oh so heartfelt “slice of life” vibe persisted in her take on Jennifer Walters. Rainbow is a writer who really gets how to juggle a wide cast of characters, making you care deeply for every one of them. And with that kick-ass Peach Momoko cover they picked for the DM edition? There’s no way I’m missing out.

That's either an unergonomically large keyboard, or...Birds of Prey by Gail Simone Omnibus Vol. 1 is another one that's up there. The first thing I read by Gail Simone was actually her contributions on social media. She seemed omnipresent on the Twittersphere (then) and Blueskysphere (now), always there on my feed with witty remarks and clever retorts, and just oozing good feels. As it turned out, her comic book writing was just as sharp and full of heart, and her Birds of Prey run is hailed as one of the very best, which is soon being collected in omnibus format. Count me in!

And that's just 2 out of 287 new upcoming books to pre-order, including Conan books at a new lower price point, New Avengers, Batman, Star Wars, you name it! So grab a coffee and browse at your leisure, here:

BOOKS YOU CAN (AND SHOULD) READ RIGHT NOW
Can't blame a blind guy for missing the signs

March was the month in which Daredevil was Born Again on TV, making Wednesday the day I count down to weekly for a while more. But if there's anything I've been counting down to with even more excitement, it's the arrival of my next Omnibox delivery from Walt, because it will at long last contain the Hornhead book I've been begging Mephisto for all these years: Daredevil by Nocenti & Romita Jr. Omnibus Vol. 1!

The creator duo that defied any and all expectations in the late 1980's and showed it was possible to follow up Miller and Mazzuchelli, ended up running the series for four remarkable years and pushed the character far out of his comfort zone. The result was wild. From a new love interest with somewhat of a demonic side, to literal demons overrunning New York, the journey they send Matt on starts, as always, in good old Hell's Hitchen, but through a road trip through rural America, ends up in actual Hell.

There are just a few copies left of the initial printing run, so get it while you can, here:

Blatant admission: I haven't read this one yet! 😱 But if I would get a penny for every time someone recommended me Mister Miracle by Tom King and Mitch Gerads, I'd have multiple of these magnificent Absolute editions standing on my shelves already. Having the slipcase double as a prison cell for escape artist Scott Free himself on the book's cover is such a clever and cool design, that alone would entice me. But I've heard that the book itself also happens to be one of Tom King's absolute best works, in which he does what he does best, taking a largely unknown character and revealing a depth to them that will inevitably make you LOVE them as your newest all-time favourite.

Beat me to getting it, and see if you can lock Mister Miracle up in your own library, here:
