Hello there and welcome to another instalment of the newsletter that dares to dream BIGGER than any publishing powerhouse! Bigger than even those that announce 11 Krakoa omnibuses all at once! That’s right, it’s me, Jelle, and not only did we just publish _A COMIC SHOP FANZINE #1_, which you’ll get for free (!) with any order shipping this month (while dwindling supplies last...), I can also officially announce that we’re planning a grand total of 12 (!) Big Book Newsletters for 2025! Actually, you're already reading the second one... Okay tough crowd, let’s see if I can win you back… ------------------------- WE ARE INVINCIBLE! We’re a little over halfway through the third season of Robert Kirkman’s incredible Invincible animated series, and if you’ve been as omni-hooked as the rest of the globe to the eponymous, IKEA-coloured superhero’s familial tribulations, we’ve got _QUITE THE DEAL FOR YOU!_ As you may have heard, the original comic book story is already neatly wrapped up, and it’s collectible IN VARIOUS WAYS. If you’re curious about where the TV series diverges from the source material, can’t deal with having to wait so long between seasons, or just love big, neat and already complete comic book collections as much as I do, you may be interested in hearing that we’ve got a big deal that packs a punch, offering the FULL SET OF THREE HC COMPENDIUMS FOR THE PRICE OF TWO! This picture mimics but a fraction of my collection. Check out this and other utterly invincible deals here: All Invincible Formats Here ------------------------- WOLFMAN TAKES THE (BIG) WHEEL The Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 6 Omnibus HC is out and it’s selling Spider-Gangbusters! Act surprised! This sixth volume of Spidey classics will take you from issues #181 to #205 and it contains the first spin of “so bad they’re actually iconic” supervillain Big Wheel. Most of the collection covers the run of Marv Wolfman and Keith Pollard, who made Peter Parker finally graduate from college (after just 10 years!). They also introduced the world to Felicia Hardy, aka The Black Cat, who brought along a whole new bag of challenges for the webslinger, and vexes him to this day. All in all, it’s an era filled with traditional and fun Spider-Man stories, with issue #200 arguably serving as something of a bookend to the original story by Stan and Steve themselves. It's a classic collection that will stand any test of time! PRODUCT EMBED | THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN OMNIBUS VOL. 6 HC ------------------------- THE WARS THEY WON’T TELL YOU ABOUT Before they were civil, superhero wars were largely… secret. In 2015, Jonathan Hickman, universe-builder extraordinaire, sought to tear one down for once and started the fourth Secret Wars conflict. This time, Marvel’s entire sacred 616 timeline was pitted against the icons from the Ultimate universe, and the story that unfolded has now been collected in the recently released SECRET WARS BY JONATHAN HICKMAN OMNIBUS HC. This epic saga is often referred to as Hickman's Magnum Opus, harvesting all the story seeds he planted over many, many years, in multiple books on across the Marvel Universe. If you haven’t read it yet, with the immediate (New) Avengers issues building up to the big event also included, this might just be what you’ve been waiting for. Then, once you’re finally caught up, you too will finally be certified to point out all the ways the MCU could have done their Multiverse saga better! This Secret War actually spanned far wider than just the two universes, with other pockets of the multiverse fighting for survival as well, or just going out with one last hurrah. SECRET WARS: BATTLEWORLD OMNIBUS VOL. 1 HC collects a good chunk of these tie-ins, including the enticingly titled Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars, and it also just came out! February’s just the perfect time for multiversal warfare, it seems! Battle Wars Omnibus ------------------------- MASTER MAZZUCCHELLI Speaking of Magna Opera, is there a better Daredevil story than BORN AGAIN?! Frank Miller’s perfect writing, married with David Mazzucchelli’s genre-defining art, made that question a rhetorical one, as they were the ones elevating the rivalry between Matt Murdock and the Kingpin to one of the most iconic conflicts of all time. This dance between devils proved a match made in heaven, inspiring decades of stories to come, and the soon to be reprinted Artist’s Edition is the ultimate deep-dive into how it all came together. Last year’s smashing success of BATMAN: YEAR ONE'S ARTIST EDITION by the same dynamic creator duo surely contributed to this book being one of the most requested reprints. It originally released all the way back in 2012, long out of print, but it will finally be available again in early March! PRODUCT EMBED | DAVID MAZZUCCHELLI’S DAREDEVIL BORN AGAIN ARTIST’S EDITION (2025) HC *PRE-ORDER* ------------------------- NOH THYSELF Speaking of masterful Daredevil creators, David Mack's another artist and writer who left his mark on that series, famously introducing the deaf ass-kicker Echo in 1999's Daredevil #9 as an original foil for the blind hero. Cool as that chapter was, it pales in comparison to Mack's incredible body of work on his own series, Kabuki, which he started all the way back in 1994! THE COMPLETE KABUKI: 30TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION celebrates the fact that that is now a little over 30 years ago, and this true collector's collection is out on shelves now. And good grief are we talking about a BIG book here. 1312 pages, tall as a gallery edition, and a little longer even, but it is a GORGEOUS art piece to display! Inside, the art swaps back and forth between moody, dark inks and dreamlike watercolours such as those that grace the cover, with various other artists also stepping in to play around in Mack's world. While the earlier comics can feel a little dated now, 30 years later, with the plot of Japanese lady assassins working for a secretive organization in futuristic Japan not scoring too many points for originality, the full trip is still one I can heartily recommend going on. Beyond its humble opening lies an engagingly written, transformative deep dive into self-discovery, with a main character who struggles to break free from her past. That journey goes hand in hand with David Mack's own growth as a creator, exploring various visual styles and breaking through storytelling conventions in ways that will inevitably have you browsing back to those simple initial chapters to compare. There's a lot that goes hidden behind the mask of this book's cover. Start pulling back the curtain, here: PRODUCT EMBED | THE COMPLETE KABUKI: 30TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION HC ------------------------- BIG BAT BOOK DEAL Batman, shush Speaking of people behind masks with complicated pasts, the Absolute Edition of Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee's blockbuster page-turner, BATMAN: HUSH, is finally being reprinted!
