Remember Mike? The punk rocker who packs your books, steals even more for himself, and used to write the big books newsletter? He insisted I spam you with this picture of him holding Judge Dredd: A Better World.

He says it's awesome, but that might be biased since Mike is obsessed with Judge Dredd. So I should add that Kieron Gillen describes this story as one that "Goes for the throat, and then keeps on tearing."

Movies? Series? More like Graphic Novels!

Somehow that time of the year is all about movies. Not only because of the thousands awards all around the globe but also because of Invincible that is streaming right now.

The one thing that keeps surprising though is Invincible. Everytime a new season comes out every single version of the comic flies from our shelves. Even three seasons in!

And news came out that The Umbrella Academy: Plan B is officially starting in June with the original team of Gerard Way and Gabriel Bà writing the story! So maybe it's time for you to finally catch up with it?

And then there are older graphic novels like Ghost World by Daniel Clowes, with a perfect sly and dry humour that you wonder how the heck could this be translated into a movie - but it's done so masterfully that it even gets oscar nominated.

You'll find all of these graphic novels and even more in our dedicated "Adapted Graphic Novels" collection that is still little, but will grow with time!

What's new?

There is always new stuff. Too much to keep up to date with. But wait - what is this newsletter for? Exactly to fish out not all but some gems.

  • Strange Girl by Rick Remender is the latest hardcover by Rick Remender to get released. Collecting all 19 issues with a signed bookplate, that you can even buy independently.
  • Kill Or Be Killed Compendium by Ed Brubaker is another compendium collecting the complete run in one beautiful slim softcover. This one also has a signed bookplate that can be bought independently.
  • Under-Earth and Deep Breaths are two interesting titles by Chris Gooch, an Australian artist who is making a name for himself with original pieces. Despite the dominance of muted colors in his art, dark themes prevail
  • And also Ice Cream Man Vol 10 by W. Maxwell Prince. Just to let you know if you happen to have collected volumes one to nine in trades, volume 10 has arrived.

Remember the bargain bins?

Hello, if you're a newer customer you're maybe new to the concept of our bargain bins. The bargain bins are a collection of books that are sometimes up to 78% off their price. And don't worry, it's not Walt's old books that he assembled through his 35 😉 years of life and has no place for it anymore. No, it's all new books!

My latest find in the bargain bin was 100% by Paul Pope. Published in 2002, it tells the intertwining stories of many characters living in a futuristic New York City.

Apart from the fantastic black, white, and gray art, the expressive linework, and characters, it also has slow and silent moments of connection and loneliness that linger long after you turn the page, because Pope knows hoe to capture the raw vulnerability of its characters. I mean even a panel that only showed hands holding each other almost made me cry.

Even if you should judge a graphic novel by its cover this one would definitely pass - just look at it!
