Hey you, I hope you're doing well. My name is Gloriana, and I love graphic novels more than life itself. And I have a confession to make:

I actually have a lot of respect for the miniperium Walt has built over the past four years, starting from his childhood room. Sure, it’s easy to make fun of him - he makes it so easy. But maybe, just maybe, there’s such a thing as making too much fun of someone? Especially if that someone is your boss. If that line exists, I’ve definitely crossed it. More than once.

So here’s my attempt at redemption: Maybe it’s because he hates being the center of attention (muahaha 😈), or maybe it’s because he’s on holiday (very much deserved) and probably won’t read this newsletter, but this is the only time I’ll admit it - Walt actually has INCREDIBLE taste. Every single time he recommends a graphic novel to me, you can bet it’s in my cart within seconds. And have I ever been disappointed by one of his recommendations? Not once.

The good news for you is that you can see Walt’s personal recommendations. Check them out in this collection:

Walt's personal recommendations

Or maybe you’d prefer a personal recommendation from Mr. Walt himself? Whether it’s for you because you’re not sure what to read next, or as a gift for someone who loves graphic novels, you’re in luck, because you can get one!

Just try his Comic Gift Bundle. Pick your budget and share a little about what you’re looking for, and Walt will create a custom package that always meets - or even exceeds - the value of your voucher. Sometimes, you might even get up to 20% more in value!

And honestly, wouldn’t it be hilarious if he came back from vacation to find over 50 personal bundles waiting for him to create? 😈😈😈

There is a man we need to talk about

Because that man never failed us. He delivers time and time again.

And when you pick up a new story by him, you're like: Is it gonna be that crazy good again? Will it be like the last one? Can he make me excited for something again?

And you're like, this dude should take a break. If he overworks himself, the worst might happen. But that dude has probably achieved work-life balance so well that he's glowing in every picture you see of him!

He's an Eisner Award winner. He's not afraid to talk about forgiveness and the character strengths it takes to move forward. He's not afraid to write cyberpunk hopeless love stories with lots of nudity. In his hands, deaths and fights never seem ridiculous. He's not afraid to ditch the three-arc structure and let heroes fail. And he'll let you venture into horrifying human trafficking scenarios that you might prefer to look away from, but you have to know: Did the good guys make it?

Who's that man?

Have you ever pre-ordered? If not, why?

Pre-ordering is awesome.

Especially if you're a fan of original graphic novels. Sometimes they sell out as soon as they hit the store and never get reprinted again. But that won't be a problem if you pre-order.

Also, if you're a fan of saving money, you might be happy to know that graphic novels on pre-order are almost always cheaper than on release (for some economic reason that I don’t understand. Maybe that economic reason is simply Walt's altruism).

Also, also, if there’s one thing in life you can have control over, it’s your preos.

And also, also, also - it’s just nice to get your pre-ordered books on time, no?

And there's a bunch of graphic novels to pre-order:

The first batch of the new X-Men trades is available to pre-order.
There’s a whole bunch of new DC Finest to pre-order.
The Kill Or Be Killed Compendium is also up for grabs.

And Frankenstein's monster story gets retold in Universal Monsters Frankenstein.

Brand New Release Deals!

There’s always new stuff coming in, but did you know that sometimes, some of these new releases are part of the NEW RELEASE DEALS? Now, what the hell are NEW RELEASE DEALS in a sea of gazillion deals?

Well, to keep it short: it’s not the same as the AWESOME BARGAIN BINS, but it’s a deal on a few new releases that, for some economic reason I don’t understand, are cheaper than other releases.

This month, for example, you can find Masterpiece by Brian Michael Bendis or even Joe The Barbarian by Grant Morrison. Both are adventures where kids go on journeys they absolutely shouldn’t be going on - and both are an awesome read!
