Everyone knows this one:

With great power comes great responsibility.

And I, Walt, should use the power of sending Newsletters rarely and wisely and the last NL is just one week ago.

I know that, and I apologise for letting my excitement taking over, but:

Yung Omar looking fresh and dynamic!

Omar Joins Us On Sept 20!

We're happy to announce that the man is coming to our warehouse. Sadly, Melanie can't join, but we're so glad to get one half of Om-Nie on our fifth anniversary!!
In case you do not read Omnibus or collected editions or are just not a youtube person: Omar is running the Near Mint Condition youtube channel. What the sun is to our galaxy, Omar is to the (Omni-)comics collector's universe. You might think it's a hyperbole, but it's pretty much true.

Back when we still had the brick&mortar it happened more than once that people from our town (!) came into the store because they've heard from us on Near Mint and "couldn't believe it, that the store is actually in Berlin". It's hard to say what Walt's would look like without the sponsorship of NMC, but one thing is clear: It would be a very different store.

Anyway, he'll come and hang out with us and if the tech and wifi-gods will have mercy he'd ll even do his Saturday streaming show live from the warehouse!

The "free tickets" are gone, but you can still order either "Signature" or "Sketched" tickets, which count as vouchers on the day of the event (I will repeat this until the end of times!). You can use them to buy your favourite comic and gift it to Omar, if you want. Everything is possible! Let me explain again: while the "free tickets" do bear any commitment to buy anything, they also do not guarantee any kind of interaction with the visiting artists. If we have free spots left on the day, sure, but if not: You'll still get to hang out with us. Which is also not too bad.

DC is Cooking

For a long time Marvel have been the innovators, when it comes to collected editions. They have "invented" the premium hardcover format with Marvel Masterworks (RIP) in the late 80s (!!), they have invented the Omnibus hardcover twenty years ago, and then they launched the non-volume-numbered (a real stroke of genius) Epic Collection trade-paperbacks.

But DC has really catched up. Like really. When it comes to single issues, they are killing it anyway. And since they pump out those thicc compendiums and DC Finest trades, they have also gathered momentum on the collected editions front. (BTW: Absolute Batman Vol 1 TP & HC just dropped!

But Omnis? Well, that was Marvel's home turf, and until very recently they played this game against themselves. But now, DC is churning out the hot runs and the classics in oversized hardcover like there's no tomorrow...

Well, more books have been announced recently, and while they're not officially included in the previews catalog for August, we decided to list the ones that have corresponding release dates with other Omnis that we have up for pre-order. Don't forget: You can write to support and ask them to add new books which are in the 2-months release timeframe to an exciting order, so you can save on shipping.

Original Art Commissions

Original art lovers, listen up: Filipe Andrade and Christian Ward have kindly agreed to take on a few commissions for our event. The best thing: they are open for everyone, you do not have to attend in person! The artists will bring the commissions to Berlin and we'll ship them safely to you, wherever you are.

For details and prices, please contact me personally with the subject line WCS5Y ARTIST COMMISSION and I will send you all the details.

Filipe doing Spidey & Gwennie + Christian on Batman 🖤

That's it for today. Do I want to talk about yet another thing that is happening on October 28? Oh, I am dying to. But for now, let's focus on Sept 20. And getting that party prepped...

Cheers,
Walt
