Hello there!
Welcome to the “central” Walt’s NL, written by Walt (c’est moi), on a monthly… well, bi-monthly… ehm… quarterly basis? Let’s just call it: whenever I feel like I have something to say (or Gloriana just forces me to write stuff).
Anyway, this is still the "old newsletter format". Maybe for the very last time, so enjoy the roughness while it lasts!
Will AI take over? Will newsletters finally be less rambling, more on point, maybe even convert better?
Unfortunately, no. While most of what I do (contracts, buying stock, optimising processes, writing tons of emails, "listening" to my employees) can easily be faked aka "improved" by an ai, the writing of these newsletters will remain OLD-SCHOOL. Aimless, a little neurotic, and only occasionally relevant (sale announcement at the bottom!!!). Because this is how we roll at Walt's.
But they will look somewhat prettier. I hope!

Is it the subtle colorant in my new shampoo (I knew you noticed, that’s why I’m owning it)? Or this little-known Image superhero series that finally got an Omnibus?
Just right timing, I guess. Also: I was right (love to say that). During the vid I mention how this DM cover will go fast. You might think that I am always trying to drive FOMO for the customers (which I would never, ever do, you know me), but the harsh reality just two weeks later is… it’s gone.
I reached out to Skybound and they confirmed it and that there are no plans for a reprint of the DM (after all, a six-figure amount of copies of the also-pretty regualr cover is still available at distributor level). We still have plenty left for a decent price, but you've been warned (a second time).
And yeah, it’s difficult walking the streets now. I feel like I’ve finally reached that maximum level of comic retailer fame (none, aka imaginary). I see (imaginary) heads turning: Was it him warning us about buying the DM too late?

Are you the type of person who loves to come late to parties, in order to make an entrance? I get that! But sometimes all that is left is an empty buffet and some weird dudes with really, really large pupils who can't stop talking about their latest AI vibe coding experiments. (I am a little bit obsessed with the ai stuff, I confess)

2. I love the fact we are not "only" reselling stuff, but also contribute something to the comics industry/culture.
