Welcome to a very special edition of the
Walt’s Comic Shop Newsletter
Why?
Because I actually got to talk to one of the creators with a release this week!!!! And it was... awesome.
I tried not to geek out, but I kind of did. And the lightning made a weird Titans T on my face (what’s up with that???)
If Destruction Be Our Lot #1
Matthew Rosenberg and Andy Macdonald are joined by Matthew’s own brother, writer Mark Elijah Rosenberg, to tell this amazing sci-fi story set in a post-apocalyptic world where machines have won.
It sounds familiar but wait until you hear who is our lead:
An animatronic park version of Abraham Lincoln.
I read the first issue and really enjoyed it. So we’re making it a big push here at Walt’s.
We got to talk to Matthew in a really cool interview AND we’re also doing a cool giveaway of the first issue AND MORE.
(Be on the lookout for that on Walt’s instagram. I want a single issue newsletter reader to win SO I’M TELLING YOU EARLIER.)
Check out the interview here or on YouTube:
Ben 10 #1
I cannot tell you how excited I am for this.
Did I wear an Omnitrix to class every day for one year? Yes.
Was I too old for that? For sure.
Will I tell you what grade I was in while wearing it? Absolutely not. Leave me alone.
I was obsessed with this franchise when I was a kid, and now I’m ready to be obsessed as an adult as well.
This is actually a reboot, all thought out for comics, and made by the original creators. Joe Kelly is starting a rotating duty on writing. It’s being described as “Absolute Ben 10.” (What isn’t? Sign me up.)
Do we also have a blind bag for this one? Hell yes.
Will I wear my Omnitrix to work at Walt’s? You guessed it: absolutely not.

Spectacular Spider-Man: Brand New Day #1
The year is 2008. Dan Slott is writing Spider-Man. Matheus is buying it.
The year is 2014. Dan Slott is writing Spider-Man. Matheus is buying it.
The year is 2026. Dan Slott is writing Spider-Man. Matheus is buying it.
Jokes aside, this throwback series looks like a lot of fun.
Also very much want to spotlight this Patrick Gleason variant cover with "Wait, Peter Parker is not nerdy and It's actually pratically a gorgeous model?" moment we all have.

SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY #1
Marvel is also running a Magic: The Gathering cover program, with the covers mimicking the cards. So cool!
Zorro has a new book out by Alien Books. I just read the first issue, and call me Martha, because I might as well be shot in the streets. I enjoyed it.
Gail Simone is writing She-Spawn. Between this and Matthew, the campaign to grab me is at an all-time high. (I still cannot believe I told him I don’t like Spawn.)
You can check out everything on FOC here.
The pre-orders run until Saturday at 4 p.m., so don’t call me if you miss it, because I warned you.
If you have any questions, you can email Heiko. Heiko is also running a carrot cake competition, and he tells me he’s very eager to receive recipes in his mailbox. The deadline for that is Saturday at 5 p.m.
See you next week,
Math.
