3 Highlights from this Week's FOC
WHAT SHOULD YOU NOT MISS?
This week’s newsletter is dedicated to all the comic fans out there who refuse to read something until it comes out in the format it truly deserves. Read the legendary Immortal Hulk as it was coming out in single issues? Nah, I’ll wait for the 50kg Omni! Honestly, that thing could pass as a lethal weapon if dropped from the right height (not that we’re going to test that in our warehouse, you sickos—we’re not all immortal).
So, here’s a quick hint: if you’re a big fan of Kelly Sue DeConnick and Phil Jimenez’s work, boy, do we have a big surprise waiting for you. And that’s just the start—so let’s get into it!
Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons: Absolute Edition
Wonder Woman: Historia is a a book that feels as monumental as the legends it explores. Written by Kelly Sue DeConnick and brought to life by Phil Jimenez, it dives into the epic history and mythology of the Amazons and Themyscira like nothing else out there.
As I sadly sometimes do, I started reading this on my tablet—but this is one of the rare cases where I stopped after the first issue. And definitely not because of the quality of the book itself. It just didn’t feel right to experience something this stunning on a small digital screen. The art is so gorgeous and detailed that my kindle simply doesn’t do it justice. This is a book you need to hold in your hands, and the bigger the edition, the better.
Pop culture is full of Greek myth adaptations, but Historia stands apart for both its ambitious story and its absolutely gorgeous artwork. You’ll want to linger on every page, soaking in Jimenez’s linework and his breathtaking portrayals of iconic DC and mythological figures.
This is a DC Black Label gem, the kind of book that could only exist outside of mainline continuity, giving its creators the freedom to dive deep into Amazonian lore. DeConnick and Jimenez expand the mythos, exploring the culture and history of the Amazons in ways that feel both fresh and essential. If you’re looking for a comic that’s as visually stunning as it is narratively rich, Wonder Woman: Historia absolutely earns its place on your shelf.

Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum
What happens when the twisted minds behind the hit horror series Ice Cream Man—W. Maxwell Prince and Martín Morazzo—take on the Man of Steel? You get Superman: Kryptonite Spectrum, in which the two unleash their trademark ambition, weirdness, and yes, even a touch of terror—right in Metropolis.
It is their first venture into the world of big-two, mainstream comics under DC’s Black Label and if you’ve followed the imprint, you know it’s become a home for some of the boldest, most creator-driven DC stories in recent years.
Describing Ice Cream Man to someone is never easy. Is it horror? Is it a philosophical trip through the medium itself? Ask ten readers, get ten different answers. What’s certain is that every issue pushes the boundaries of comic storytelling, refusing to be boxed in by any genre.
That same spirit is alive and well in Kryptonite Spectrum, as Prince and Morazzo apply their singular voice to Superman, delivering what might just be one of the strangest and most memorable takes on the character yet. Just as any good Ice Cream Man story, this one’s going to stick with you!

Legends Omnibus
That Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are a legendary trio in the world of DC should come as no surprise to any comics fan. They’re the icons at the center of it all, so naturally, they also launched the Absolute line. But how far can you stretch the word “legend” before it loses its meaning? Does someone like Guy Gardner really fit that label? Or maybe B’dg the squirrel Green Lantern is even more deserving. Is that what this Omnibus is all about?
Well, yes and no.
Inside this Omnibus, you’re not just getting the complete Legends miniseries, but also all the tie-ins from Action Comics, Justice League of America, Blue Beetle, Green Lantern Corps, and more. The creative lineup features John Byrne, Jerry Ordway, Paul Levitz, Ernie Colón, and Keith Giffen, all legends in their own right.
Legends picks up right after Crisis on Infinite Earths and covers the birth of a new Justice League, the rise of the Suicide Squad, and a total rethinking of what it means to be a “legend” in the DC Universe. If you want to see how DC reinvented itself for a new era, Legends is where it all begins.
So, if you’re a fan of Justice League International, this is the perfect place to dive back into that world. Which, honestly, makes a pretty good case for Guy Gardner earning his legends status -- Even if it’s only for being remembered as the guy Batman knocked out with a single punch!
