Tony Fleecs, Trish Forstner, Tone Rodriguez and Brad Simpson are back with Feral!
And - spoiler! - they are as good as ever!
Her first masterpiece Stray Dogs was a late but all the more thrilling discovery for me.
If you have the nosiness and stamina, you are welcome to scroll through my Insta and read my raves about their beautiful suspenseful dog thriller roller coaster.
So now they are finally back. With cats.
And instead of a serial killer, we get is a plague, or more precisely a virus, or even more precisely rabies.
Of course, the ultimate surprise effect that made me gasp a few WTFs in a row with Stray Dogs won’t kick in here for the experienced Fleecs-Forstner reader.
For I won’t be lulled and deceived by these beautiful, Disneyesque magical drawings, and I’m already expecting the dark element, just waiting for the first twist.
Yet with Feral #1 the creative team also gets down to business more instantly.
There’s no illusioning the idyll, the drama starts right in the second panel.
Though they don’t skimp on twists and turns here either, and thereby create a gripping suspense right from the second panel that lasts until the end at the accustumed high level.
I don’t want to ramble on much more, because unlike Stray Dogs, Feral is going to be an ongoing series.
So I’m sure I’ll be giving my two cents a few more times, ‚cause Feral exudes the same energy as its predecessor.
Frightening, touching, exciting and so wonderful to watch.
Rabid, bloodthirsty animals, injured people and terrified house cats have never been more beautiful.
