DC Versus Marvel Omnibus - two publishers, two universes, one big clash

DC versus Marvel Omnibus

Was Hawkeye or Green Arrow created first? Is Deadpool a spoof of Deathstroke? Is Iron Man Marvel's take on a Batman? Is Captain America supposed to be a patriotic version of Superman?

Some people make it seem like Marvel and DC cannot coexist in the same universe, and some make it seem like fans of one cannot be fans of the other. As if Marvel and DC are mortal rivals.

Marvel and DC decided to take this fight to the streets to see who would win in a DC vs. Marvel fight. This fight took place on the only battleground that made sense, aka comics, and the outcome was chosen by the only people who should choose, aka comic book readers.

In 1996, DC and Marvel published four issues titled DC vs. Marvel Comics / Marvel Comics vs. DC where their heroes fought each other. The winners were chosen in advance by avid readers via email or ballot.

DC Versus Marvel: The Amalgam Age Omnibus

And the Amalgam Universe? Amalgam is defined as: "a combination of parts that create a complete whole". After that, the Marvel and DC universes became one - and so did their heroes - the ultimate amalgamation. In this new Amalgam Universe, classic Marvel and DC characters have been combined to create unique hybrid heroes and villains. But is this the solution the world needed? One publisher instead of two?

DC Versus Marvel and Jim Lee?

What's the matter with the Jim Lee's covers? Why do people go crazy for them?
There's no doubt about it: Lee is the definitive artist for Marvel and DC characters. His work on titles like X-Men and Batman is some of the best of all time! His dynamic storytelling and iconic character designs have left an indelible mark on the comic book industry, especially during the '90s. As Lee said himself, "Few things say 'peak 90s' like these designs from the AMALGAM universe."
