There are crossovers where at their announcement alone the inner child high-fives the adult comic reader and whoops: Awesome!

And sometimes two adult comic readers with inner children stand at the short box in the store when this issue arrives, flip through it and whoop: Awesome!

And then one of those adult comic book readers with an inner child sits at home, reads Predator vs. Wolverine #1 with relish, grins broadly at his inner child and they both whoop: Awesome!

There could hardly have been a better writer to write this crossover than @benjamin.percy.
He gets exactly what I was hoping for out of the material. Nasty, hard-boiled wide-screen action that still has enough ambition and depth.
With a high popcorn cinema entertainment factor, to convince both the inner child who is up for some awesome entertainment and the experienced reader who wants to be entertained, not at any price, but with a clever story.

Percy creates a really clever setting indeed. Here, the Predator doesn't just come to Earth, meets Wolverine and then they hunt each other down for four issues.
No, when these two monsters meet, it will be a hunt for eons.

First, the raw, unpolished young Wolverine, sometime around 1900, meets a young, fun-hunting Predator somewhere in cold Alaska. And he defeats him, because he knows his territory better than the freshman from outer space.

So he thinks.
Because one day, when he's traveling with Team X in South America, they meet again. And the not-so-inexperienced Predator brings reinforcements and a lot of vengefulness.

It is also clever that Percy again works with several narrative levels and side stories. This not only provides the adult comic reader with the desired depth, but also a very broad, full reading experience.

The artist job is shared by Ken Lashley, Greg Land, Jay Leisten and Andrea Di Vito, as well as colorists Juan Fernandez and Frank D'armata.
And they all do this job splendidly.

How exactly, is something I'll get into when I review issue #2. Because this series is a must for the adult reader and my inner child.

Awesome!
