No idea how G. Willow Wilson does it, but she does.
For 14 issues (and 2 Knight Terrors) straight, she has consistently kept the level at its highest.

I don't think there's a series I'm enjoying more right now than Poison Ivy. As soon as one of these magical covers appears while I'm doing the check-in at the shop, my reader's heart leaps. Maybe I always hop a little myself. And I'd certainly clap my hands with glee, too, if I weren't checking in these delicate issues.

After the Knight Terrors "break", it's back to the regular canon. The creative dream team of Wilson, artist Marcio Takara and colorist Arif Prianto then continue exactly as we are used to.

In order to keep the shock over the change of scene in contrast to Poison's nightmare issues on a mild level, the introduction is also pleasantly gloomy. A mysterious murder. A mysterious house and mysterious killer. No doubt, Ivy's back in Gotham.

As a light balance to Ivy's mysterious explorations, we accompany Janet-from-HR on her mission.

G. Willow Wilson actually manages to create not only the most sympathetic and human of all Ivys, but makes Janet - that unassuming, and as Harley so aptly points out, heartbreakingly ordinary supporting character - a part of the trio infernale. Janet brings the final bourgois elements to balance the two villains on their road to goodness. Well, the new good.

Poison Ivy #14 is a prime example of everything that makes this series so unique, so magical, so mine.

Excellent storytelling, mixing a healthy cup of modern superhero comics, mystery and horror, crime, drama and an irresistible sense of humor. With the themes of the time.

Lovely characters that grow to your heart. So that every last panel of an issue is also always a small wistful farewell.

And of course Marcio Takara and Arif Prianto's beautiful enchanting work of art.

Plus, the coolest covers DC has to offer on a regular basis.

No doubt, I love this series.

Oh, and yes, before I forget, the best reason to praise this particular issue, it contains the most hilarious Sucker Punch of the Year!
