Look, it's almost the same thing each and every month since Absolute started: They are kicking (everybody's) ass! BY FAR! Over ⅓ of all sold items in the Top50 are Absolute related. And Abs Batsy is charting with four issues alone this month. Just crazy.
Marvel can't be happy about the launch in Imperial (if our sales represent the average industry-sales, which is probably not true). It used to be that picking up the phone and giving Hickman a call was Marvel's easiest way to increase sales 1-2 quarters later. But the formula is not quite working for the cosmic corner. Ultimate Spider-Man Incursion is a cool book and shows that the Ultimate brand is still working. And anyway, with all Marvel bashing (it's because we care!), one has also to recognize that they are still leading the publisher chart for all singles sales between 10.6. and 10.7.!! So it's not too bad. And with the upcoming relaunch for Batman and the Marvel/DC Crossover things are looking generally bright for the upcoming fall season.
Publisher market share this month:
Marvel Comics 40.77%
DC Comics 37.88%
Image Comics 12.15%
Dark Horse 2.30%
Oni Press 1.58%
Boom! Studios 1.37%
