The Silver Age of Comics - circa 1956 to 1970
During the Silver Age, the Comics Code Authority had a significant impact on almost everything that was published during this time.
The restrictions imposed by the Comics Code, which led to the weakening of some publishers, along with the editorial adjustments required to comply with the Code, changed the entire industry.
This led to the demise of some publishers, the downsizing of others, and strategic shifts by those that survived.
A key feature of this period was the shift toward scientific themes in superhero origins and plots, away from the magical or mythological elements that had been prominent during the Golden Age.
This era introduced many iconic characters, including the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man, Green Lantern, and the Flash. The Silver Age also brought significant advances in comic book art, thanks to artists such as Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and John Romita Sr.
The Silver Age also had a cultural impact. Television adaptations, such as the 1966 Batman series, further increased the popularity of comic books.
