A warm end to a lovely little series. In which the supporting characters were actually the main characters. And the protagonist steered. And looked cute.

Which, again, is a good counterpart to Groot's usual performances. Because let's be honest, Groot is always the (more or less) secret star of every Guardians of the Galaxy series.

The great thing about this little woody guy is, he doesn't need to say much or do much to express and accomplish the desired outcome.
Therefore it is only logical that Dan Abnett gave more space to Mar-Vell and Yondar, especially to the Captain.

For all I care, Dan Abnett, artist Damian Couceiro and colorist Matt Milla could have been given more space.
Here in the finale of the four-part series, it was noticeable that the team had to fit a bunch of information into a small space.

I wouldn't have minded to follow this pretty sci-fi tale a bit longer.
Action-packed, dynamic, heartfelt, not necessarily surprising, but perhaps for that very reason very pleasantly entertaining.

As fulfilling as this tiny origin story was to the head and heart, the eye candy was just as delicious.
Everything done right.

So, if you haven't checked out Dan Abnett's small take on Groot's origin, we still have the entire run available. Better get your copies now.
