I hear some people complaining about the Knight Terrors because it doesn't seem to lead anywhere special, no big upheaval, no new world order, it just is.

How good that I expected exactly that from this event. A kind of summer break without the summer slump. If you just need a break from comics because other things are more important, and your money and time should be invested with other priorities, then please do. Now is your chance. We're pausing the ongoings and if you're up for a bit of horror, a bit of psychology and a few talented artists and writers letting off steam here, then have fun with the Knight Terrors.

You also don't have to read every tie-in to understand the big picture. Not up for Nightwing? Punchline sucks? Okay, then just cherry-pick. To understand the plot, First Blood, the four Knight Terrors core issues, and the final Night's End are enough.

I think that's fair. And to be honest, this is more like my cup of tea than all these revolutionary manifestos. Don't look for a purpose. Not every event has to shatter the core of the DCU. Sometimes it is just good entertainment. And that's what Knight Terrors #2 continues. And it also brings two really interesting characters out of the woodwork, Deadman and the Sandman (who will also be back with a new series later this year).Joshua Williamson's storyline continues to unfold. No great excitement, but no boredom either. Good dialogues, especially between Sandman and Bat-Deadman, some deeper insights into the why, a little action and an ending with suspense. As in issue #1, the artist collective Guiseppe Camuncoli, Stefano Nesi and Caspar Wijngaard again deliver very atmospheric, first-class artwork. In particular, it is only through the variety of styles that the different levels of the story are visualized.

This event really surprised me in a very positive way. Probably because I didn't have any great expectations. And because I hate overly complex events. I like anthologies. And that's how Knight Terrors should be understood, a storybound anthology that gives us some different insights into DC's heroic minds.
