As of February 24th, we will be shutting down our brick & mortar store located on Heinrich-Roller-Strasse. I don't want to beat around the bush: this decision was really hard. I'm highly susceptible to nostalgia (classic comics guy!). I know well, that I'll soon look back on these two years, 2022/2023, with great longing. What started as a whim (we can do it, so let's just try it) turned into one of the most fun part of owning a comics-related biz.
Above all, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to all our store customers. We've had a great amount of fun with you! Despite the demands (and at times, the stress) of managing our online operations, the moments we've spent engaging in conversations and getting to know you have been invaluable. But with the move and the increasing demands of the online operation plus our lease at the current location finishing in a few months we think it’s just a better idea to focus. And to take a break from the brick-and-mortar retail business.
The good news is: we've developed a taste for it. I find brick-and-mortar retail too enjoyable to just let the topic rest. We have tons of ideas about what can be achieved. As with online retail, we aim to set benchmarks and as charming as our little brick&mortar is, it doesn't fully meet our standards. And the planning has already begun… I'd love to blast the excitement alarm at full volume already, but for now, I'll just say: Mid 2025 we'll be making a spectacular comeback!
Changes for pick-up orders
What does this mean for the store customers? All your "pickup orders" can still be collected at the store until February 24th. For those who can't make it for one last visit (which would be a pity!), we will send the comics to you free of charge. As for pre-orders, we will also ship these at our expense. If you live not far from Marienfelde, you're of course welcome to visit us and pick them up in person. It's best to write to support@waltscomicshop.com, and we'll arrange a meeting. For those who order frequently, we will ship your items monthly, also free of charge. We sincerely hope you'll stay loyal to us until we continue next year at a new location. Speaking of which, if you want to stay in the loop and be the first to be informed about our return, add your email to this list. It will strictly be used for brick&mortar related announcements.
